Will Nach Baliye be same without Mazhar and Mouli?

I wonder if Nach Baliye 4 will be as entertaining as my favourite jodi is no longer a part of Nach Baliye season four. The elimination of Mazhar and Mouli did not come as a surprise. Despite the fact that the duo were performing very well they kept coming in the danger zone. I think had Nach Baliye not introduced the concept of teams, Mouli and Mazhar would have been able to escape elimination. Since the duo had already danced in the previous Nach for life, this time when they were in danger zone they had to depend upon their team to save them.

My next favourite couple is Kapil and Anjali. They are both confident, put in a lot of hard work and enjoy dancing. The judges have been praising their performances. Their last performance was mind blowing. I felt bad when Anjali slipped, but she was back on her feet. All in all, it was a good dance along with great chemistry. I hope they get the support of public. Do watch the show which is aired on Star Plus every Friday and Saturday. Mauli and Mazhar get eliminated

I was very disappointed when Mauli and Mazhar got eliminated from Nach Baliye 4 aired on Star India Plus. Despite their good performance, the duo failed to get public support. For two consecutive weeks Mauli and Mazhar had fallen into the danger zone. Alas! They did not get enough votes from public.Both of them are quite good dancers and complement each other very well. They also put in a lot of creativity in their performance. Like in the last episode, their dance was a real treat. Dressed as peacocks both of them set all the hearts fluttering. It indeed seemed like two majestic birds were dancing and celebrating the first shower. Oh! Yes, the theme of the week was celebration. The couple depicted a magnificent celebration. But sadly we will no more be seeing them on Nach Baliye 4.

Other couples also had put up a great show. I quite liked Kapil and Anjali’s performance. Anjali actually slipped on the floor but she got up and danced with the same energy. Their performance was worth the ovation they received from all the judges. It was Anjali’s birthday as well. Christmas Carnival at Nach Baliye on Star Plus

I really like watching Star Plus, as it brings a lot of good programs to viewers in the US. I am living in Washington for more than a decade now. I miss India a lot. Especially the ‘road-side food’ and the celebrations. Anyway, now I am accustomed to the life style of the US. I am also planning a lavish celebration for Christmas. The theme of the party will be Nach Baliye . So, every couple will have to shake a leg! I really like Nach Baliye 4, which is aired on Star Plus.

Nach Baliye 4, is a great stress buster. It comes with a new theme each week. Last week, the theme of Nach Baliye was 'celebrations'. The couples expressed their celebrations through dances. While a couple was celebrating Christmas, another couple showed how an Indian woman welcomed home her husband who is a warrior. All in all, an excellent show!

Of Rasmalais and Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna...!

In one of the recent episodes of Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna (TSPLS), which is aired on Star Plus, Yug crosses the border to get rasmalai (sweet dish) for his Dadu (grandpa) from Natthu halwai. Mention of both the rasmalai and Natthu halwai (sweet maker) stirred some memories which have long been unnoticed. Before I left India for good and settled in the US, I used to work with an accounting firm which had a halwai’s shop (sweet shop) in the ground floor.

Although his name was not Natthu, I distinctly remember his keshari rasmalais. Like Yug’s Dadu, I too was very fond of rasmalai. So much that I would not mind coming to office on a weekend as the office would order sumptuous snacks from the sweet shop below. The snack would often accompany a plate of delicious rasmalai. Hmm, have to wait for next week to see more of Yug and his sweet heart Vrinda. Do watch TSPLS at Star Plus from Mon- Thursday.

Ishq unlimited on Star One

Married for more than eight years now to my NRI software engineer husband, I often wonder what marriage has given me. Sometimes when I miss India very much it seems I just have a lonely apartment in a foreign land. When Akhil’s parents had asked my father if he would give my hand to Akhil in marriage, father had said NO. He couldn’t bear that his only child should live so far away in Amrika! But as they say marriages are made in heaven!

On Tuesday night while surfing the channels a good show, Salam e ishq being aired on Star One, caught my fancy. It was another reality show but hello there were no celebrities in there except for Mahima Chaudhari. I quite like Mahima, the desi girl of bollywood flick 'pardes'.I did not realize that I had sat through the entire episode. Normally, I am very finicky about reality shows. But, Salam e ishq is quite different from the rest. It is all about real life romance.

Nach Baliye 4 salutes Mumbai

Balle Balle shook the stage as they painted a bleeding heart on a white canvas along with the tricolour. It was amazing how emotions can be reflected through dance. Although nach baliye 4 being aired on Star Plus is just another reality show, I was really moved at their heart rending performance. The judges also could not hide their emotions. Karishma Kapoor was in tears along with the participants saluting the heros of Mumbai. Shava Shava team presented with a mime act. Their dance showed the terror that the country is engulfed in. It was a lovely act. Towards the end, the entire Shava Shava team walked up to the stage to raise their hands in unison to the brave hearts of Mumbai, the police officers and spirit of India! All the sadness and fear was put down as the team cheered…Vande Mataram!

Fantasy land on Nach Baliye

Of fairy tales and Alladin’s lamp the stage was alive with magic when I turned on the television and tuned into Star Plus. At first I thought it was some children’s program, but then I realized Nach Baliye has caught its viewers by surprise yet again by visiting memory lane and bringing out the child in all.

Participating couples came dressed as either children or characters from fairy tales. I was totally engrossed and couldn’t take my eyes of the performers. I simply loved the magical act put on by Chetan and Lavinia. Chetan looked amazing as a genie while Lavinia truly looked like Alladin. They not only scored the highest but also impressed their cute son, Ethen. Chetan picked up his little boy and brought him to the stage after their performance. Ethen who was thrilled with his mom and dad’s performance reminded Karishma Kapoor of her little daughter. It was an emotional moment for the Nach team.

Chetan Hansraj and Lavinia -a wild card entry in Nach Baliye

Chetan Hansraj and Lavinia have made a wild card entry in Nach Baliye 4. Nach is a reality show that brings together TV celebrities dancing to different tunes each week. The show running on its 4th season is being aired on Star Plus at 9 pm on the weekends. Because of its timing a lot of my friends have taken to it. I think it’s a good time to socialize with the family while watching a show like this rather than slogging through the stereotyped saas bahu fare!!

Star Plus’ Nach Baliye 4, has been full of twists and surprises. Last week Farah Khan (one of the judges of Nach Baliye 4) had announced that a celebrity couple will enter the contest in the next episode. There were rumors that Ali and Sara will be on the show.

Not dancing this time, but Ali and Sara are hosting the show. Earlier the show was being hosted by Sanjeeda and Aamir, the winning jodi of last season.

The Bhatti’s are out

Jaspal and Savita Bhatti have been a favourite of the audiences, the judges and other contestants as well! The couple had never danced before but they nevertheless put in their best foot forward in Nach Baliye 4. Their energy level and creativity was superb. The best thing about them was the fun element they brought along to the show.
Alas! the Bhatti’s have been eliminated from the show. They were in the danger zone along with Abhijeet Sawant, former winner of Indian idol and his wife Shilpa. In the nach for life episode, on 6th December when the ‘Shava Shava’ team scored higher than ‘Balle Balle’ team, time ran out for the Bhattis. Up until now, the eliminated couple were Jatin - Priya, Karnvir – Teejay and Vinit – Tanushree. This prime time Star Plus program is a complete package of dance, drama and masti!

Mazhar and Mauli – burning passion at Nach Baliye!

On December 5, Mazhar and Mauli- jodi # 8 of Nach Baliye being aired on Star Plus rocked the stage with their sensous performance on the number Kaate nahi kat te yeh din. The couple who have been together for nearly six years now displayed a fabulous chemistry. I was gaga at the burning passion and really agree with Farah that it seemed like the duo looked like new lovebirds!

They began wonderfully with Mauli sitting on a bench while Mazhar talks of ever lasting love. Then the dance took off. Mauli gave a wonderful performance. She was emoting so well. Their love was evident in their fluid movements and expressions. The audience cheered as Mazhar wished Mauli happy anniversary and the couple hugged each other.

Judges showered praises on the duo. Arjun commented that Mazhar’s performance was little weak. But Farah interrupted him and chirped that Arjun was only looking at Mouli. She gave the couple ten out of ten. Karishma said she adores Sridevi both as an actor and dancer. She complimented the couple for choosing a classic song for their performandce. Farah and Arjun both gave the duo 9.

Hussain who was the Jodi #8 in the last season of Nach which was also aired on Star Plus asked the audience to vote for the new Jodi #8. It was nice to see that the ex-participants have been following Nach!!

Yet another celebrity reality show BUT with a ‘deceiving’ twist

One might stumble upon a hundred celebrity reality shows, while surfing channels (I am not exaggerating). Everyday, TV channels bombard us viewers with reality shows featuring celebrities dancing and singing their way to glory. This is usually fun to watch but there’s nothing new enough to keep me interested. However, I might be wrong because I came across news that Star Plus is launching a new ‘celebrity-reality show with a twist.’

The show’s name is ‘Master of Disguise’ and it will feature well known celebrities who will be told to do fun activities in disguise in public every week and will prove themselves successful only if people do not recognize them.

I found this show, particularly interesting because it’s not just a regular competition. Further, celebrities disguising themselves and trying to fool common people sounds exciting. The show also harnesses an interesting concept, which is quite different from any reality shows that we have seen.

Well now, don’t expect Aishwariya Rai or Amitabh Bachchan to serve you your daily cup of coffee at your local restaurant. Contestants of the show include Gulshan Grover, Seema Biswas, Mona Singh, Mahesh Manjrekar, Divya Dutta, Mandira Bedi, and Chunky Pandey.

It will be fun to watch these celebs disguise themselves, trying not to give away their identities to earn the ‘Master of Disguise’ title. Master of Disguise is expected to air sometime in December and is definitely one of the shows on my ‘must-watch’ list!
